Art auctions can be so pretentious, can't they? If you'd rather not deal with the dressing up, the parking, the traveling, the embarrassment of being outbid, or the hype, then art auctions online are your cure-all! It's easy to get started when you know where to look. Obviously, one can bid at auctions on eBay anytime, but live auctions online are a quick and easy method towards owning a new piece of artwork, as an art investment.
To begin bidding in art auctions online, one can try a site like Proxibid.com. Browse auction days, times and specialties. Sign up to bid on items from American glass and Boehm King Tuts to Oriental furniture and antique jewelry. Police and government auctions can be found here, which guarantee great deals on art or collectibles! By clicking on the "info" tab next to each auction listing, you'll see auction locations and phone numbers, what sort of commissions you're paying, what the sales tax is, how the item's shipped, when you can preview the collection and bidding instructions. Proxibid, like eBay or iCollector, gives you easy access to hundreds of rare items right from the comfort of your own home. It's a great service for beginners and professionals alike!
World-renowned auctioneer Christie's (Christies.com/LiveBidding/AboutLiveBidding.asp) is another worthwhile place to find an art auction online. The process is easy. You create an account, download bidding software, register for a particular live auction, enter the virtual salesroom and start bidding! Generally, there are multiple live auctions online every single day and bidders may choose from places like Geneva, London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris or Amsterdam! Each auction will list the specialization, for example: look for Impressionist and Modern Art in New York City, sporting art, wildlife, dogs in London or sculptures in Amsterdam. When it comes to software, you'll want to download a day before your scheduled auction, be sure your firewalls are temporarily turned off in your computer's control panel and be sure you have a reliable internet connection. Christie's Live software works best with the Windows OS (or Macs booted up in Windows) and a cable or DSL connection. Working with Christie's is a great way to find and track items, as you can set an online search to notify you when items you're looking for will be appearing in auctions. You can also place absentee bids 24 hours before the sale begins. With businesses in over 43 countries, $3.25 billion in sales within the first six months of 2007, and prices ranging from $200 to $80 million, bidders will have an excellent selection.
Like Christie's, Canadian auctioneer Heffel.com offers live auctions online as well. The easy "browse" menu lets you search auctions by artist (Need an Emily Carr? Paul Peel? Alfred Pellan? No problem!), by subject (such as coastal scene, figure in landscape, abstract, portrait, etc), by category (Canadian or International), and by location (Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver). Since Canadian art is generally undervalued in the marketplace right now, you can find some tremendous deals on masterpieces done by Canadian artists! As the industry grows - which it has every year for the past decade or so - your art investment will be worth more than you paid for it.
Why not find your next treasure at art auctions online? It's a great way for first time bidders to get their feet wet and decide if art collecting will be a lifetime hobby or a passing fancy. Who knows, perhaps you'll be flying to The Louvre in France or The National Gallery in London in the future. Or perhaps you can create your own Museum Of Modern Art in your living room - with walls that will dazzle any guest and perhaps even become long-lasting, high taste gifts for friends and family.
What is air cargo service? Air cargo services are usually extra benefits that a business's cargo transportation service will do for its customers. Many air cargo companies will offer a wide variety of services, depending on the kind of airline. Air services dealing with passenger planes offer different services than those dealing with transportation of goods.
Each air cargo company decides what services to offer to its customers. Some companies offer more services than others. Services offered to passenger airlines can include: baggage handling, ticket verification, skycap, unaccompanied minor escorts, wheelchair services, and many more. Services offered as part of freight shipping services can include things such as, road feeder services between different airports and airport to inland container depots, air cargo clearance centers, centers for perishable cargo, and warehousing for bonded and non bonded air cargo. Another important service for air cargo companies is document control. If documents for the air cargo are not always one hundred percent in line, then things are much more likely to go wrong. A good air cargo company will ensure that all the documents for their cargo are in order.
Every air cargo company decides which services to offer to its customers and air cargo service varies between air cargo companies. Some common services for passenger airlines can include: ticket verification, baggage handling, unaccompanied minor escorts, skycap, wheelchair services, and others. Services included with freight shipping services can include some or all of the following: air cargo clearance centers, centers for perishable cargo, road feeder services between different airports and airport to inland container depots, and warehousing for bonded or non bonded air cargo. Another service that is necessary for air cargo companies is the service of document control. If the documents for air cargo are not handled properly, events can quickly become a disaster. Every air cargo company should be able to handle the documents for its cargo with efficiency and ease.
When choosing a cargo airline to ship goods, it is necessary to ensure they are able to give proper air cargo service for each business customer. It is common knowledge that it is the little extra services that really make the difference between a good company and a great company. And when shipping things, always be aware of airport security laws so that legal issues are avoided. Also, knowing what is legal to send by air and what kinds of containers have to be used for which goods can make shipping things a breeze. A good air cargo company will help you to decide on these issues.
Since global warming is, and will continue to be, a problem that affects the entire planet, many world leaders are coming together to find ways to reduce the damage that is being done due to extreme temperatures in the earth. The Kyoto Treaty was designed as a way to retard the consequences of the greenhouse effect, and every country in the world can benefit from this treaty—if the nation's officials agree to its terms.
The Kyoto Treaty was established in 1997 by officials in Kyoto Japan, which is a very industrialized nation. These officials, like many other government decision-makers around the world, felt that it was time to do something about the ozone depletion and excessive emission of greenhouse gases all around the world. The treaty was supposed to serve as a pact between Kyoto and other industrialized areas around the world, so that each country would be accountable for the amount of greenhouse gases that are emitted into the atmosphere on a regular basis.
Carbon dioxide is the main 'greenhouse gas' that raises concern for all humans, and the treaty was also a means of reducing the spread and inhalation of carbon dioxide. Burning fossil fuel and other unhealthy practices lead to an excess amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and this is very harmful to human and animal life. Factory activity and production also contribute greatly to carbon dioxide production, and pretty soon there will be no substantial plant life to convert the carbon dioxide into oxygen—unless companies and individuals help to do something about it.
There are several countries who have already agreed to be a part of the Kyoto Treaty, but extremely industrialized countries were not as quick to offer their participation. In 2001, President George W. Bush stated that the United States would never sign the treaty, since it would mean that many businesses would have to reduce production significantly, which would result in national economic strain. Several other larger countries, such as Russia expressed this concern as well, and a meeting in Bonn, Germany held by the European Council brought about some amendments to the treaty. Larger countries will have the opportunity to request 'emission credits' from less industrialized countries in order to maintain production and manufacturing costs for products while reducing excessive gas exposure. The U.S. and Russia are still skeptical about signing the Kyoto Treaty since the economies of each country will be affected, but hopefully changes can be made to reduce global in other ways in these countries.
If you want to know more about the provisions and clauses of the Kyoto Treaty, or are interested in how you and your family can do your part to make the world safer and healthier, there are some things you can do right in your home town, such as recycle or conserve electricity. For more information on how you can get involved with your local government to stop global warming and learn more about the Kyoto Treaty, visit www.americans-world.org, or www.nrdc.org.

A few years ago, a buddy of mine asked me to come over and help him restore a 1967 Mustang Fastback that his father willed to him. I'd never really worked on cars before, but after spending months on that Mustang, I was hooked. My friend taught me a lot about the process of restoring vintage automobiles, and now this is what I spend most of my free time doing. In fact, I've already sold two of my completed projects for a nice profit, which has got me thinking that perhaps I can turn this hobby into a full-blown business.
In order to make a business like this work, however, I'd have to find some good sources of classic car parts. Specifically, I'm looking for shops or dealerships that stock a large enough inventory of products that I can be relatively certain that I'll be able to find what I need no matter what kind of vehicle I'm working on.
In addition to carrying a wide selection of classic car parts for all makes and models, I'd want these retailers to be able to offer competitive pricing. Having to buy things like brake discs, clutch kits, water pumps, oil filters, headers, and quarter panels is by far the greatest expense involved in automobile restoration. Since I'd be buying these things on a pretty regular basis and would be a loyal customer, I'd need my classic car parts dealer to have the lowest prices around.
For my previous projects, I had to drive more than 75 miles to find the classic car parts I needed to get the jobs done. That's not exactly a convenient distance, and it wouldn't be reasonable to make those trips over and over again. That's why I'm now leaning towards purchasing all of my classic car parts online instead. By doing this, I could have everything delivered right to my door within a week, or I could even have pay for overnight shipping in the event of emergencies. I'd then be able to spend my time actually working on the vehicles instead of driving back and forth between stores.
It would also be easier to find classic car parts online because location wouldn't be a factor at all. I could order from shops as far away as southern California or northern Maine, and I'd have access to a lot more inventory as well. Plus, I know that online retailers always offer the lowest possible prices, which would of course be great from a business standpoint.
Once I become reasonably familiar with some of these online classic car parts stores, I'll be able to make a better decision one way or the other, but for now I think I've talked myself into taking the plunge and opening up my own restoration shop!
It is important to have a hobby, and important to pick the right one. Finding something that requires just the right level of dedication, addresses one of your interests, and doesn't cost too much money can be difficult, but it is important. Unfortunately, many of the more popular low cost hobbies are not universally appealing. Hobbies like knitting, writing, and painting are relatively inexpensive, but they only cater to a certain type of personality. Many people like something more action-packed. Nonetheless, even if your hobby appears to be expensive you don't have to spend a fortune on it. Finding cheap hobbies is all in your approach.
Many people stay away from radio controlled cars and planes because they assume it will be expensive. If you approach it in the right way, however, it doesn't really have to be. There are low cost radio control kits that are perfect for beginners. They are slower, more forgiving, and easier to use than the more advanced models. You will still have a lot of fun with them, and they will let you discover whether you picked the right hobby for you.
Of course, as you get better you will want to buy models that are better too. Nonetheless, there are still ways to make sure that this will remain a cheap hobby. Basically, the more you are willing to do yourself, the less money it will cost. If you buy a fully completed kit which you just have to snap together, it will be more expensive than if you do the work yourself. Even better, you can buy plans and build the thing from scratch. If you are willing to put in the work, radio controlled kits can be one of the best cheap hobbies. You will still end up with an excellent racer, flyer, or whatever, and you will save money in doing it.
With most cheap hobbies, you probably should know someone who knows what they're doing before you get into it. This can save you a lot of hassle in the long run. Go in to your local hobby shop and see if there is an organization for people who are into what you're doing. You would be surprised by how many groups like this there are. Whether you're into model trains, radio controlled vehicles, tabletop role-playing, or something else altogether, you will be able to find people nearby who share your interests and can make cheap hobbies out of otherwise expensive pursuits.
As with any detoxification program, the goal of drug detoxification is to rid the body of unhealthy waste materials. When a drug user gives up his habit, the residue from the drugs and alcohol can stay in the body and prolong the agonizing withdrawal systems. In this article, we'll explore how this body cleanse can better the odds of an addict staying clean and living a productive life.
The goal of drug detoxification is to rid the body of toxins accumulated by drug use. Residues of many drugs - including LSD, phencyclidine, cocaine, marijuana and diazepam - are known to accumulate in the body. These compounds may be retained for extended periods of time, and are especially abundant in long-term, hard core drug users. Once an individual has discontinued using drugs, physical and behavioral withdrawal symptoms may follow. The nature and severity of the withdrawal symptoms vary greatly depending on the particular drug or drugs that were being used, as well as the frequency of use. Opiate detoxification helps diminish the uncomfortable symptoms of withdrawal.
There are a number of different drug detoxification methods available. Ideally, a reputable drug treatment center will incorporate counseling and therapy during detox body cleansing to deal with the issues that led to the individual's abuse of drugs and alcohol. The removal of drug residuals is a key goal and without this process, drug residues can remain in the body and cause cravings for years after drug use has ceased. A vital step in a successful program, as well as drug rehabilitation, is flushing out these accumulated toxic residues so that the individual no longer experiences unwanted adverse effects from the drugs they have taken.
Drug residues and other toxic substances can remain locked in fatty tissues of the body and can be released into the blood stream years after the person has stopped taking drugs. These residuals can cause cravings for more drugs. This is why these toxins must be cleansed from the body. Drug detox programs usually include an exercise regiment, regular sauna treatments and nutritional supplements. These are all intended to rid the body of fatty tissues contaminated with drug residue.
The side effects of quitting drugs is what makes the process so difficult. Drug detoxification can help ease those physical symptoms considerably, but that's just one part of the solution. Physical detox programs must be supplemented with extensive counseling to address the psychological, social, and behavioral problems that can lead to an addiction. Showing an individual that they don't need drugs and alcohol to cope with life's challenges is what will allow them to continue to live clean.
Bulimia nervosa is a very serious disorder that affects many people from all walks of life. It is also quickly beginning to affect individuals at a younger age than ever before. One of the main reasons for this increase is due to the media. People, including adolescents, are force fed images of those who are abnormally thin and these images can begin to direct one to an unhealthy, distorted self image, which in turn can lead to anorexia and bulimia. If parents and loved ones are not aware of eating disorders and their symptoms, then they may overlook a family member who has developed dangerous eating habits in their quest to be thin like their beloved celebrity icon.
Many people may not understand the different types of bulimia nervosa. Basically, there are two types. The purging and the non-purging type. For those who engage in this binge eating disorder and purge, they do so by inducing vomit and by misusing laxatives in their quest to be thin. For those who use the method of non-purging, they may involve themselves in the act of excessive exercise or fasting. However, unlike anorexia, those who suffer do not starve themselves, instead they become involved in compulsive overeating.
For those who are wondering if bulimia nervosa has any symptoms they should be made aware of, then the answer is yes. Look for a person who binge eats huge amounts of food in short periods of time, such as within two hours. Also, many suffering from this disorder have no control over their binge eating, which is probably why many will binge in private, making it very difficult to diagnose.
The negative effects that bulimia nervosa can leave on a person are enormous. The reality is that more and more young people are being affected by this debilitating disorder. It is a serious condition that, if left untreated, can lead to a person's ultimate death. However, if one is aware of the symptoms, then perhaps the disorder can be avoided. Otherwise, one's life will be ruled by unhealthy eating habits.
The video games have proved very popular. These are tied in to the movie versions and books and feature the regular characters and the spells, creatures and objects associated with the particular story. The Harry Potter game has versions for various formats; PC, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Sony PlayStation, Nintendo GameCube and Microsoft Xbox. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the fifth in the series, can be played on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the new Nintendo Wii system.
The first video game to be released was Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, (Sorcerer's Stone in the US). This was a single player game and some reviews criticized it for not being challenging enough for older children. This was followed by Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, another game for the single player. The next Harry Potter game was Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, again for the single player.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire followed and reviewers praised it for having superior graphics to the preceding games. This time, the game could be played by single and by multi players. It was back to single player again for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Some of the most exciting scenes in the stories come from the playing of the Wizard game, Quidditch. Harry Potter is an extremely good flyer but almost meets a sticky end sometimes. It is a dangerous sport and requires a great deal of skill. The Harry Potter game, Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup Series is for single and for multi players. There is a section for players to practice different moves of the sport before going on to try out those moves in competition. Players can participate in international, World Cup matches and Hogwarts School internal matches between Houses, choosing from Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.
